Ahead of the elections, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told IDF Radio: ““We will have direct flights for Muslim Israeli pilgrims from Tel Aviv to Mecca.” Israel and Saudi Arabia presently do not have diplomatic relations, but clandestine ties have strengthened in recent years due to both countries shared interest to cooperate regarding the Iranian threat.
In a recent Facebook post, MK Ayoob Kara proclaimed: “I welcome Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration that soon Muslims in Israel can fly from Ben-Gurion Airport directly to Mecca to do the Hajj ceremony. It will make it much easier for Israeli Muslims to do the Hajj without having to do a long stopover in Jordan.”
He proclaimed: “I tell Israeli Muslims that only the Likud can solve this humanitarian issue. I am pleased that Israelis can now travel around Dubai and they soon will be able to do likewise in Saudi Arabia. No one can contribute to the Sons of Abraham Alliance and bring about more peace agreements like Benjamin Netanyahu did.”
