Will Assad always support Iran?

It is common knowledge that presently, the regime of Bashar Al Assad is a proxy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and that the Iranians are deeply entrenched within Syria, which poses a strategic threat to the State of Israel.  However, in an exclusive interview, MK Ayoob Kara claims that last year, Assad was considering abandoning the Iranian axis and joining the Saudi Arabian coalition.

“But after the election in the US, Assad waits now to see what the new policy of the US is,” MK Kara noted.  “If Biden continues the same policy, Assad will change his position on supporting Iran and change his commitment to the Iranians.  He will become again part of the Saudi Arabian coalition and will look for a way to make peace with Israel.”

However, MK Kara warned that Biden appeasing the mullah’s regime could jeopardize that: “If Biden changes the policy, that means that he goes back to the Iranian camp and they will be more dominant in Syria and all over the Middle East.  These are the two options.  Or we stop Iran, or we give them oxygen to continue to occupy Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, etc.”
