In a recent interview, former Israeli Communication Minister Ayoob Kara blessed President Abdul Fattah El Sisi after Hala El Saeed won the 2020 Government Excellence Award as the best female minister in the Arab world: “Hala El Saeed is the Minister of Economic Development in Egypt. She is the best person for this position in the Arab world. It is important for women in the Arab areas to develop themselves politically and economically. This is the best chance for women to become equal in the face of the extremism and the terror.”
A couple of years ago in an interview with Foreign Policy Blogs, Levana Zamir, the head of the International Association of Egyptian Jews, stressed that Sisi will bring Egypt in a cosmopolitan direction and towards a brighter future. Moushira Khattab, CEO of Kemet Boutros Gali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge, told the Egypt Independent that Sisi makes every effort to promote women’s rights, especially compared to the past.
Presently, there are eight female ministers serving under Sisi, of which Minister Hala El Saeed is merely one of them. Women are also well represented in the House of Representatives under Sisi and various laws penalizing violence against women have been passed.
